TELL US ABOUT YOUR LATEST PROJECT, RECORDING, OR PERFORMANCE?
I am very active and my projects range from electronic and experimental music, to jazz, pop, world music and more. Everything happening at the same time. There’s a trio which I play drums on, three electronic music projects on tour (much better experience thanks to the backpack!), two duos with guitar players, the piano solo works, clinics and workshops, mixing and producing other bands too.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR NAMBA GEAR BAG?
Versatility! My Mac and my controller fit in, if instead I want a rack-unit soundcard and some extra cables, it also fits in with ease. I could spend lots of time just describing how great this backpack is. From the measures that never got me in trouble checking-in on airports, to the light blue color inside that contrasts with the cables and parts so I can quickly find what i need. Also the cable managemment system is very nice and lets you setup really fast! The construction is great which makes it perfect for the road. I can even be a little bit evil and say: I love showing it to people and looking at how much they want one just like mine as soon as they see it! 😀
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE REMOTE RECORDING LOCATION?
Touring with the electronic music projects often gets me to remote locations that are completely unusual. July 2009 I played at a week long festival that took a whole river island that appears 3 months every year when the level of the water goes down for the Brazilian winter (which isn’t cold at all at this place!). My Namba goes on with me and makes the whole experience much better because I know the equipment is safe and that setting things up will be as easy as opening the bag and finding everything in it’s place. Another very interesting project the Namba will be used for, is an expedition to record the remanescent music of a native brazilian tribe. Instead of a few bags to keep things separate, the Namba is intelligently designed so everything is kept where it should be. I often compose music during flights too. How could I do that without my Namba?! I just cannot describe how happy I am with this backpack!
